What is the most terrible thing that can happen to a food blogger? Encountered bad service at a restaurant? No, thats part of the dining experience. Taste lousy and not up-to-the-mark food? Nah, thats also part of the dining experience. Entering the restaurant and the waitress told you the place is full? Blame it on yourself who did not make any reservations. The worst thing, that can ever, ever happen to a food blogger . . . Is having no camera to take shots of the delicacy displayed upon you. Thunder never strikes at the same spot, indeed. The last time to TheFrench Stall, LIC forgotten to bring his camera along, and that was anawful feeling. LIC didn’t expect to encounter the same problem, thistime LIC did bring the camera, only to arrive happily at the entranceof the restaurant and found out that there was no battery inside!?! Tsk tsk! LIC shouldn’t taken out the battery to charge and forgot toput it back. A dreadful mistake which must be avoid at all cost nexttime. Beware! Warning! The following photos may look awful, terrible, shocking, ghastly, and lousy to you. If you cannot take any of theexperience, please DO NOT click on “Read the rest of this entry“ The fatal spot where LIC wanted to take a pot-shot of the entrance andto his horror, discovered that the absence of the battery! Alas, this post on Kuishin-bo will be short due to obvious reasons, LICwas actually working on Absolute Haven but due to time constraint, thispost shall appear before your eyes first. Too many post pending for LICto write, even OT can’t really help : ) The only “slightly more decent” photo, sushi selections The sushi are all right i guess, nothing to shout about. Quite a wide selections to choose from though. Prawn Tempura The tempura section is most probably one of the place where i consumemore, with the exception of desserts (which LIC can’t live without!)The prawn tempura is your normal fried prawn with tempura-flour, itworks for me although i pretty much suspect its only decent in the eyesof Japanese food experts (LIC self-proclaimed he isn’t a avid Jap foodeater) Kaminabe paper steamboat Like what i mention during my visit to Waraku, Kaminabe sounds like afoul-word, it still brings back memories from the last visit, hence themention. Paper pot, the vegetables, are all there to absorb theotherwise oily chicken and soup. Thinking back now, Beef should havebeen a better option for Kaminabe. Desserts - Fruit Tarts Fruit tarts are LIC favorite! I can pop ten easily into my mouth. Thetarts here are pretty standard i guess, but still give them to me! There are also some miniature cakes around, chocolate ones, mini oreocheesecakes (really tiny), mini doughnuts in different flavors, quite avariety available. The chocolate fondue craze might have die down already, but that doesnot means they are not good. Its just that people forgets easily, before long another new craze will appear and the common folks willstart to go after the new hype. Think donut, bubble-tea, luo-han fish, chocolate fondue, well just to name a few. Total Bill for 2 person during weekday lunch comes up to $46.61 aftertax and service charge. Weekday lunch is $24.80 for adult, and if youOp for the 60 minutes express lunch, it is $19.80 , which we did. Iguess the 60 minutes strategy is more to attract office working people, but we took it since we are really full after an hour anyway. Actually the difference in price is only 5 bucks, if you go for thenormal price, you got the luxury to enjoy the buffet from 1130am-3pm,which big-appetite eaters should go for. Otherwise if you are workingnear Suntec, or like us where you can finish the meal in an hour, thediscount of $5 although not much, is still rather substantial. To be honest, the one hour buffet is rather rushed, and if you are thetype that refuse to rush while tasting your food, it is not advisableto take it. But if you know what you are looking for, well just attackthose areas and your effort will be paid off for the $19.80. Kuishi-bo proclaimed itself to be the Authenthic Japanese BuffetRestaurant, which i highly doubted it. Authentic hardly feeds into whatthey are offering. Nevertheless i believe one sentence should sums itall for Kuishi-bo. Quantity, not quality! Taste is subjective, if you are not looking for very excellent food, isay the ones at Kuishi-bo are quite decent, and definitelyvalue-for-money since its only $19.80. But if you are into Japanesefood, i’m afraid the visit will disappoint you greatly. Nonetheless, comparing Kuishi-bo to Sakura International Buffet, and Sakae SushiBuffet, i still say Kuishi-bo slightly edged out both the latter. Many acquaintance mentioned that Kuishi-bo’s standard has vastlydropped from last time, a pale shadow of what it used to be. Well, sometimes you have to experience it for yourself to conclude. I did, which is the reason for my visit to Kuishi-bo. Thus, Yay or Nah, make atrip down. You are always welcome to visit ladyironchef for a full-up on this trip. Modern Decor, Value for money and delicious set lunch, what more do youwant? As usual rule no one, i made a reservation in advance, so no needto wait, the waitress promptly brought us to our cosy seat. The seatshere are what i called good seats as compared to Jap Dining Sun. Thewaitress was polite, and also reminded us to watch the small stairs. At12.30, it was close to full house. Menu was not as extensive as Warukuor even Jap Dining Sun, but the set lunch menu are really value formoney. More than enough to order. Chicken Teriyaki & California roll set ($14.80), all the lunch setmeal here comes with pickled vege, soup and tea/coffee. The chickenteriyaki place on hot plate was simply good. The california roll isreally yummy, not those type you have at Sake sushi. Really nothing togrumble about, mayb more california roll? haha perfect score 5 out of 5 Sukiyaki & Tomato salad ($17.50) which was beef, vege, egg in hotpot, something like a mini steamboat. Beef was quite good, but very fewpiece only. Well, cant really expect them to give so much beef likechicken. 4 out of 5 Overall, nothing to complain about, If you haven been to Sun with Moon, make yr move fast man. I suspect Sun with Moon will become my favrestaurant soon, and i will be visiting them a few times one month atleast. lol. Anyway, after paying the bill which comes to $37.65 for twoperson, they gave me dining coupons for their newly open branch atCentral. 15% off food, and 2 free drinks which can be beer, housered/white wine, or soft drink. Confirm guarantee plus chop will use itto try the food at Central soon. I highly recommend you to go to Sunwith Moon for its value for money set lunch, mayb not so often fordinner (no set meals more ex), and i think Sun with Moon is better thanits sister restaurant Japanese Dining Sun. So Sun with Moon Centralnext week anyone? Haha For pictures please go to my blog at Ladyironchef

24th Sep '08 We've been to Pepper Lunch @ Ngee Ann for quite a few occasions already and i have to say that the food is still ok. It's kind of like a cheaper alternative than the restaurants at Ngee Ann City. Price is still affordable and justifiable for the food they serve. I like the orangy warmth feel when we first entered the restaurant. maybe it's just me. hahaa. BUTTTT... SERVICE is a huge turn off there. especially as we were being led to our seats. We walked straight to a corner where we were told that that area is already closed.. ok... it's only like 8pm? Nevermind. There was only 2 of us dining in.. so the waiter tried to get us a small table. I'm okay with that although i wanted more leg space. As we approach the table, apparently somebody else had already taken the table and there isn't anymore 2 seaters around. I was very annoyed when he seems so reluctant to let us sit at the 4 seaters that are so readily available. It's not like there are alot of people waiting. There is not a single soul outside. Of course, i didn't show my displeasure. In the end, he manage to find us a 2 seater somewhere. yes. "thanks". Personally, I feel that there is much room for improvement for their service. Apart from that, the food arrived promptly sizzling hot and tasted not bad. I ordered Steak & Hamburger with egg (total with set plus egg = $14.90) while Loke ordered Chicken Pepper Rice ($8.90) without spring onions. Didn't have time to think much cause i was too hungry for anything else. =) mummum eat eat.

i went there with a group of 3 friends for dinner on a saturday evening. as it was on a saturday night at around dinner time, waiting is expected. we queued for 15-20min before we finally got a seat for 4 people. the general ambience was, well, there was no ambience in particular. even though we got "window seats, wad we saw out of the window was the road and some people running on the treadmill at the gym opposite. due to the "open concept" the restaurant had, the noise level was rather high as we were exposed to all noise within orchard cineleisure. also, due to the position of the seats, anyone coming up from the escalator would be able to see our table. that is good for one of our friends who came later, but bad for us because basic privacy was missing entirely. we decided to go into the main course right away so we tried to order. it took a while to get the staff's attention but we made our orders eventually and were finally served some iced water. i ordered a "tuna and avocado carbonara" . while waiting we saw that a lady at the table next to us had fetuccine which made us wonder why the waitress did not bother to ask if we would have preferred spaghetti or fettucine, which is a common gesture at many other restaurants. after 15-20min wait, our orders finally came. when we started to dig in, my friend gingerly took out a piece of plastic from her "kinoko carbonara". we were apalled and called the waitressed. she quickly apologized and took the plate away telling my friend she would be compensated a new plate and the price would be waived from our receipt. after that issue was resolved we began to eat. the pasta was ok but the cream sauce of the carbonara was a bit on the thin side as i've had better carbonara. after i finished i realized there were like only around 3 small chunks of avocado in my pasta. when we all finished we decided to have some dessert so we tried to get the attention of the waitresses again. after looking through the menu we decided to try the tofu cheesecake and the waffle with syrup and butter. the cake was pretty good and very cheesy and the portion was slightly bigger than expected. the waffle was a whole different story. the waffle was just soft when it was supposed to be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and the butter served with it didn't melt... when we were done, we were parched because NO ONE bothered to refill our iced water and we had to call the waitress to do so. at this point of time, our friend arrived to join us for our activities afterwards. wanting to leave we tried to get the bill. after much trying, we managed to get the attention of a waitress so my fren gestured for her to bring us the bill by showing the action of signing. the waitress responded by copying the action and gave a thumbs up, which we all thought meant that she got what we wanted. after a while she came to us with the menu instead. we finally got the bill eventually and left unsatisfied. honestly for the same price, i could have definitely got better service, better ambience and better food, in fact from a restaurant with a similar concept across the road at the Heeren. it's definitely not worth the wait, not worth the price and not worth the calories. overall i'll give it a unsatisfactory 1.5/5 stars rating. i certainly won't be visiting this restaurant again and i'd advise you to stay away from this place.
