When I was young, Metallica were my favorite band. I have always listened to them no matter where I was or what I was doing. Over the years, they have produced and recorded great albums with great taste and music. Albums like “Master of Puppets”,“…And Justice For All”, “Metallica” and more. I guess these were their best years. The 80’s and early 90’s, or were these the years that I was young and Metallica looked cool, fitted to my reality and view of life, maybe that’s why I liked them… In 1996, Metallica showed the world they were not over yet and that this horse is still kicking. They have recorded “Load” with great songs like “The House Jack Built”, “Until It Sleeps”, “King Nothing”. The album got mixed reviews when it was out. A lot of people did not like this sound of Metallica and thought they were just trying to get some juice going out of something that was already dry. That their best years as a band were over and this album marked the beginning of the end for them…but, there were people who liked the album, like me. Sure, it’s not the hardcore Metallica of the 80’s, it’s not their best album and to tell you the truth, it might not be even that great of an album, but it’s not bad, and that’s enough for me. You don’t have to like all the songs in this album. I’m sure you don’t like all the songs in any album you buy, but if there are a few good songs you can hear over and over, it’s good enough to own it, and this album may even surprise you as it surprised me. It’s good rock with good music to follow it. Once you listen to it a few times, you’ll get the hang of it, and you’ll see that this horse is still kicking.
