Cold Prey IIThe sequel to, of course, “Cold Prey” (original title: "Fritt Vilt II") from 2006.
Jannicke, the only survivor from the fateful encounter at the mountain hotel is brought to the local small town hospital. But, the police also brings dead bodies of her friends and - yeah, you guessed it – the killer. Since everyone deserves a second chance, even crazy mass murderers (he killed more than 100 people), they try to revive him and – you guessed it again – succeed. The rest, you already know.
I really don’t like these kinds of sequels. Like with “Friday the 13th” – how many times, and in how many different ways have they killed Jason? I bet there’s at least a dozen. And yet, he comes back to life, again and again and again to murder more and more and more people. Wouldn’t it be easier if they just blasted his head with a trusty twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington made in Grand Rapids, Michigan? Then put another couple of shells in his body. Then, just to make it sure he doesn’t come back alive for the 20th time, dismember him. A prudent person will most probably chop his pieces to even more tiny pieces, than preferably smash them so there’s nothing left but a pulp, burn the pulp and finally burn the burned pulp again. No, no. Instead – let’s hit him with a wooden ledge. I mean, that ought to kill him, right? Yeah, for sure. He ain’t coming back again. What was that? I thought I heard a—AAAAAAAH!
In “Cold Prey II” it ain’t exactly like that, but not much different, either. After the killer has been pickaxed to death and thrown into a huge-ass crevasse and lying in the cold for a few days, he still manages to get back to life. OK, the extreme cold had preserved his cells, that was pretty plausible. But how the hell does one survive a 50m (at least) fall without breaking his back? Huh? At least the ending was satisfying.
Well, after I took a deep breath, meaning “Oh, OK. Another one…” I’ve watched the rest of the film. As far as slashers go this is OK. Actually, it’s a copy of the first, just in hospital instead of a hotel. The bodycount is a little higher.
If you liked the first, you'll like the sequel. All in all, another ordinary slasher, maybe slightly less annoying then the heaps of American slashers (there aren’t any teens in it), but a slasher nonetheless. I hope they don't make another one, though.
