Detroit Metal City

“Detroit Metal City” (abbreviated “D.M.C.”) is a live action film based upon the manga and anime of the same name.

It tells the story of Negishi, a young man living in a rural village who moves to Tokyo. His big dream is to become a fashionable pop-singer. But, his plans go terribly wrong and he ends up as the lead vocal of none other than Detroit Metal City, a death metal band. In D.M.C., Negishi is known as Johannes Krauser II., a demon from Hell who supposedly raped and killed his own parents. Although Negishi hates the band, he’s not allowed to quit due to their demonic manager. Furthermore, metal’s biggest legend, Jack ill Dark is retiring and wants to hold a final world tour at the end of which he will face the best metal band in the world in a rock duel. That band is, of course, D.M.C.

The film attracted me mainly because of the music it was about – metal, as it is my favorite genre. Now, “D.M.C.” is a lightweight slapstick comedy. It’ll be definitely funnier to you if you listen to metal music, of course.

As for the cast, I have to mention that Jack ill Dark is played by the legendary Gene Simmons of “Kiss”.

The music featured in the film is not exactly death metal, but a lighter type of metal. Nevertheless, it’s funny as hell with titles like: “Death Penis”, “Slash Killer”, “Rape that Girl” and “Fuckingham Palace”. It’s so great that I decided to post a link to the soundtrack titled "Hell Game ~ for the movie ~". I did not upload it, I just found it, and of course, it is only for evaluation purposes and you should delete it after 24 hours (or something like that). Or the FBI will find you and hunt you down.

Definitely check it out (the OST and the film) and have a few laughs.
