Director:

Cast:
Louis Koo, Barbie Hsu, Sandra Ng, Liu Yang

Synopsis: (lovehkfilm.com)
Louis Koo turns in a solid comedic performance but most everything else about On His Majesty's Secret Service is business as usual for director-producer-crapmeister Wong Jing. The film has funny parts, boring parts, and a lack of inspiration that's exceptionally disappointing - especially given the lack of similar films in recent years. Probably only for diehard fans of the stars or Hong Kong Cinema fans who miss this genre so much that they'll accept anything.

On His Majesty's Secret Service 大内密探灵灵狗 (Hong Kong)

The return of Wong Jing comedy! Now that Stephen Chow is officially overqualified for Wong Jing comedies, we get part of Louis Koo’s comedic versatility instead. After overcrying in Connected, Barbie Hsu shows that she is able to fit nicely into this kind of genre. Now, if only she learns to speak Cantonese. Despite being a comedy, I felt sad watching it. Sad because of the Cantonese dub I had to endure from the actors from Taiwan and China. Sad because up to now, I have not really seen a lead actress from Hong Kong for far too long now. Sad because this trend could be the defining future for HK films. Where are you Kelly Chen, Cecilia Cheung, Miriam Yeung, Karen Mok, Charlene Choi, Gigi Leung, Gillian Chung, Karena Lam and Isabella Leong? Even Sandra Ng is credited as “Special Appearance” only. His previous comedies recycled most of his earlier gags from his 90’s films and somehow or rather felt the lack of effort in many scenes. Majesty consists of many...
