I know "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" doesn't really blend in with the blog's philosophy as being for underrated movies, but I decided to give a small review anyway.

I avoid American comedies like the plague. Those spoof "Movies" from Friedberg & Seltzer, then the teen comedies with Lindsay Lohan as the smart and wise high school girl, then just the plain awful romantic comedies with dudes like Zac Efron, etc. There is nothing to like. A friend of mine, with whom I watched "The Scorpion King 2" the other day said he got this comedy, "FSM", and if I'd like to see it. I was like: "Oh, shit, there goes another one.", but still decided to take it and watch it at home, later, mainly because I had nothing else to watch that day.

And, woe and behold – it was great! All of the time I was expecting someone to fart, but no one did. I was just looking for the moment when someone hit a street lamp or a wall with it's head, but no one did. I was thinking: "When will the lame sex jokes come?", but there weren't any. In fact, "FSM", had none of the above crap, although the plot would suggest otherwise.

Peter Bretter, a film music composer, takes a Hawaii vacation in order to deal with recent break-up with his TV star girlfriend, Sarah. Little does he know Sarah is traveling to the same resort as her ex ... and she's bringing along her new boyfriend, the famous British singer – Aldous Snow.

I guess this is what happens when real screewriters write a comedy – you get a real comedy, not just a bunch of incoherent pop-culture refrences. Jason Segel, who wrote the screenplay is also in the main role. Katrin Bell is Sarah and Mila Kunis is Rachel Jensen, a hotel employee which Peter will come to like. But, the absolute star of the show is Russell Brand as Aldous Snow. He was just hilaroius. And the small cameo by William Baldwin as Det. Hunter Rush on the show "Crime Scene: Scene of the Crime" with his Caruso-like oneliners - priceless.

And, no, the tits on Mila Kunis' flashing photo are not hers. I checked.

It's awesome. The film I mean. Mila Kunis is also awesome, but I was reffering to the film. So go watch it.

"Forgetting SM" is a variation on the slacker-dude-meet-sophisticated-chick romantic comedy/dick flick. This time the guy is actually cute (Jason Segel) and the gal less than perfect (Kristen Bell of TV's "Veronica Mars.")

A good start. Unfortunately the groans outnumber the grins.

Funny moments, like a breakup scene with Jason in the buff — totally, are outnumbered by played out jokes — fat guys in grass skirts. Yes, we're in Hawaii...again.

In the end, the whole is far less than the sum of its parts. You do the math.

Whoooo! Forgetting Sarah Marshall people! Me likey this movie!



The movie is about Peter Bretter who's is a musician that does the background music for a popular CSI TV series and also happens to date the star of the show, Sarah Marshall. But when she breaks up with Peter , he is completely devastated. After a while he decides that he needs to get over her and goes on a vacation to Hawaii and checks into this nice resort only to find out Sarah Marshall is also there and she already has a new boyfriend in the form of a British rock star.



The guy who plays the main character in this is Jason Segal who some of you might know from How I Met You're Mother. This guy really knows how to do comedy and do it well. Matter of fact, Jason Segal actually wrote the screenplay for Sarah Marshal. No shit! He could be a great SNL writer cause Forgetting Sarah Marshall is funny as hell.



This movie is one of the funniest romantic comedies I've seen since The 40 Year Old Virgin. It's got a great cast of actors who are really hilarious together especially Russel Brand,Paul Rudd and Jonah Hill. The humor in this is great, I loved the CSI bits in the movie and that ending Dracula musical scene. And Sarah Marshall also had some really interesting characters that are realy likable. Also the waves of SNL cameos were a great boost to the film.



But there were times I thought the comedy went a bit too far to the point where they were Apatow crude. We have two scenes where Jason Segal is naked and we can see that little tic tac of a dick he has. This is what I hate about comedies where the filmmakers think that putting in crude humor is going to make the film funny. But besides that there's nothing much to complain about.



My favorite character i the whole movie was Aldous Snow who is someone you try really hard to hate cause he's a douche and he's sleeping with the protagonists girlfriend. But you cant help but like this guy cause he is just one of the coolest dudes you'll ever come across. He's that kind of guy you'd want to just hang out with and have a beer, cause he is a genuinely nice person and is stitchingly hilarious to listen to. but whats p with Russel Brands hair? Jesus whens the last time this guy went to the barber?



Damn Kristen Bell is just hella hella hot in this movie. I'd think any guy would find it hard forgetting her sweet ass. And it also helps that Kristen Bells is in a bikini or a mini dress for the most parts f the film. And its kind of sad that I'm only talking about her hotness cause she does do a pretty decent acting job in this.



And we have Mila Kunis here who's looking really pretty in this.I kept thinking her voice sounded so familiar, and then I go on imdb and find out she's the voice of Meg Griffin from Family Guy. Wow.. how can a girl as hot as Mila Kunis do the voice of such a nerdy girl? Anyway.. I liked her in the movie man. She's dyingly cute and I really like the her skin tone .... and also her boobs and legs.



It's a Judd Apatow movie people, so just brace yourselves for lots of crude jokes, random humor, and some really funny moments.

So you know that one comedy movie that you saw before that looked crappy but ended up being funny as all hell? Yeah that’s this movie.

I really went into this movie not expecting anything even remotely funny in it with the exception of what I saw in the trailer. It turned out that the movie was way funnier than I ever expected it to be.

Now one thing to be weary of, was the male nudity. I did not see it coming, and even though I warned you, you will not see it coming either. It is awkward to see male nudity in any movie. But when it’s a decently famous guy on top of it, it throws you off even more. I was not prepared for it. However the massive amount of female nudity made up for it. I honestly would not have minded it whatsoever, but it came out of nowhere.

Now the plot of the movie is simple, but that’s where it leaves the best room for interpretation and it also allows you to focus on the comedy aspect more than anything. Basically its girl breaks up with dude. Dude breaks down because girl was already seeing someone else. Dude cries like a baby. Best friend of dude talks dude into going on vacation. Dude goes to vacation in Hawaii. Dude runs into ex-girl in Hawaii. Hilarity ensues. Really not a bad plot, and it was rather unexpectant at times.

Now let’s talk awesomeness. I never in my life have ever wanted to go to a puppet show in person until I saw this movie. It made me so excited with glee that after I was done watching I actually went on a search for the puppet show to see if it existed, and I was disappointed to find out that it was all made up. It was seriously that awesome and I have yet to meet a person who does not agree with me. I WANT TO SEE IT!

Really there is just so much to this movie that it’s hard to touch on everything. For it being such a simple plot they sure as hell packed a lot of stuff into it. But my biggest disappointment has to be that when I saw Mila Kunis tits in this movie, I had to find out if they were real or not. Turns out some dick did an amazing Photoshop job on it and the picture is indeed a fake. That made me make a sad face.

All in all though it was a damned good watch, I could honestly watch this movie 200 times and still find something else to laugh at. This is honestly one of the best comedies I have ever seen.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (Nicholas Stoller, 2008)

Hollywood seems to be catching the Judd Apatow bug. The pioneer of the 'coming-of-age romantic comedy' genre, Apatow is now one of the most influential filmmakers of the last five years, directing critical and commercial hits in The 40-Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up. Forgetting Sarah Marshall joins a long line of films inspired by his potent formula which includes Superbad, the Oscar-winning Juno, and Charlie Bartlett. Forgetting Sarah Marshall marks the directorial debut of Nicholas Stoller who is incidentally part of the current trend of young American filmmakers making their first feature with the backing of established distributors.

Stoller's film has an effective screenplay that tells the story in a manner that viewers will find it easy to take in. However, it lacks the incisiveness of Apatow's scripts though it is no less explicit. The story centers on a character that viewers will choose to sympathize - Peter (played by Jason Segel). Peter gets dumped by his girlfriend of many years – Sarah (played by Kristen Bell). He then decides to take a trip to Hawaii to relieve depression only to find to his horror that Sarah is on vacation there with her new boyfriend in tow! When Sarah realizes this too, she tries all means possible to avoid the presence of her ex, who ironically is drawn closer to the allure of Sarah’s new relationship.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall has its fair share of crude jokes, some quite sexually explicit. The most memorable and funny sequence involves two couples in adjacent rooms trying to 'outmoan' one another while making love. Although the film plays out like a comedy, its tone feels slightly downcast. It explores themes that teenagers will be able to relate to. What does it mean to be loved by someone? Is love just a fleeting emotion or is it something so deep that only time can fully unravel it? Unless two shots of Segal's manhood in its full glory can tempt you to think otherwise, Forgetting Sarah Marshall still remains a less rewarding alternative to Apatow's gems.
