Finding Nemo (2003)

I liked NEMO a lot upon released, but it wasn’t until rewatching it some years later that I realized not only how well it had held, but how amazing it is. I don’t understand how anyone can say they don’t love this movie. Pixar does it once again.

Finding Nemo — 9

I love the ever living hell outta Pixar, they have not made a bad movie, or even a decent movie. Every single movie they make has always been fantastic, very similar to early Disney movies. This movie is no exception. Although this is my least favorite of all of the Pixar movies, it is still a damn good movie. Only seeing this movie a few times and not seeing it for about 2 years, i forgot about the incredibly sad opening this movie had, it starts you off with an “awww, how cute” into “FUCKING DIE YOU P.O.S. BARRACUDA!!!!”. All in about 10 minutes of the movie. I dunno about you but any movie that can give you that emotional of a response within the opening sequence is already a damn good movie in my mind. This movie isn’t so much about the story as it is the journey that it takes to get to the ending. Which is one thing Pixar has mastered. Storytelling. It is something that is lost in todays movies. Its all about the opening and the ending,...

Finding Nemo (Andrew Stanton, 2003)

Whenever a Pixar film is just about to be released in theaters, there's this lively buzz around town. In every way redefining animated pictures, Pixar's films over the years have not only captured the wildest imagination of kids, but adults too. The filmmakers clearly have worked out an incredible formula for producing flop-proof feature-length cartoons year after year. In the tradition of Pixar, Finding Nemo represents the industry leader's most family oriented work to date. Finding Nemo is strong in content (a trait of Pixar films), offering a well-defined story with lovely characters that are incredibly well-personified. It's an animated feature with immense substance and quality that allows most viewers to be willingly absorbed into the colourful underwater world. There's an exciting blend of form and movement on display which might just make any moviegoer go, "Boy, I wanna be a fish!" There will be debate whether Finding Nemo is still the best Pixar film to date. For me, it's...

Finding Nemo

Finding Nemo is another in the ever growing hit machine that is Disney/Pixar. Before Wall-E was released, many were hailing this as the most complete and best of the Pixar films. I still say The Incredibles is better, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t a very enjoyable film.  The plot of the film is very heartwarming. How can one not like the notion of a father crossing the ocean in search of his son, who’s last words to him were “I hate you”? Not to mention the characters we meet along the journey each have enduring qualities that remind us that Disney is still behind this film. The visuals in this film are amazing, especially when they show the surface of the water. You almost forget that this was all done by computers! The highlight of the film is Ellen DeGeneres’ performance as Dory. As with most films, the comic relief sidekick character is the most memorable, although she does have a bit of competition from the sea turtles...
