I Am Omega

The infection spreads and people turn to monsters. He is the last man alive. He is pissed. And he intends to blow the city up. He is not a legend. He is Omega.

This film stars Mark Dacascos as Renchard in the main role. The screenwriter Geoff Meed is Vincent, and Jennifer Lee Wiggins is Brianna, the eye candy. “I Am Omega” was directed by Griff Hurst. Mark is an action legend already, but Geoff Meed is pretty badass too. And, to be honest, he puts on the best performance. Apart from being a screenwriter/actor he is a martial artist for 30 years, and does all of his stunts. He has also done extensive fighting with Steven Seagal, Mark Dacascos and Chuck Norris. I think we can all agree that is BADASS.

The film itself is downright hilarious. The first half an hour is an attempt at character development and you’ll have quite a few laughs during it. The zombies are also a strange bunch. They are incredibly stupid, incredibly fast at times (light speed to be exact), but also incredibly weak. So weak, in fact, that Mark beats them up with martial arts. One good high kick and the zombie is history. Maybe Mark is so strong he destroys their brains with his kicks. The best scene is when Mark tries to escape with the chick Brianna in a car which won’t start. So Mark is trying to fix it, and a bunch of zombies appear. Mark then exits the car, yells: ‘OK now! I’m so fucking tired of you motherfuckers!”, grabs his nunchuks and beats the crap out of them. Then they rise again and he runs away.

There are no special effects, really. Just two explosions shown for a split second so I guess they look alright. The makeup is decent and the zombies look good.

In the end, I enjoyed “I Am Omega”. Despite it’s numerous flaws, it was fun in a “so bad it’s good” sort of way. And it has Mark Dacascos who blows an entire fucking city up! Beat that, Will Smith!
