Feast III: The Happy Finish

Roughly a year later after I’ve seen “Feast  II: Sloppy Seconds” here I am watching the final chapter of the  trilogy. I still don’t know why it took me so long. Part 3 starts  immediately after the end of part 2, with the current survivors  (including the two naked lesbian biker girls whose bras were sacrificed  for the greater good) trying to get from their little town in the middle  of nowhere to a big city. Some of them die in the process, but a few  new people join them – like the Shitkicker and Jean-Claude Segal. Sadly,  only one character out of the whole lot makes it out alive.

Well, basically, “Feast III” is a rehash of “Feast II”. There’s plenty  of What the Fuck?! moments, but you’ll probably be expecting them  by now. In my opinion, part 3 is a level below part 2, which is in turn  a level below the brilliant first  part – the only one that is required viewing in my book. The series  does go downwards with each sequel, but not to a point of becoming  unwatchable. They just gave their all right from the start, so it was  near impossible to surpass expectations afterwards.

Why is “Feast III” the least good installment of the series? Too many  shit jokes, a lame rape scene, a really annoying 10 minute part at the  end involving flickering lights that aren’t pleasing to your eyes, not  enough badassery and the fact it mostly takes place in dark underground  tunnels/sewers. Another thing I hold against it is they kill off the  most interesting characters a short time after they’re introduced. A  good thing is you never know for certain who’ll live or who’ll die. On  the other hand, it has some truly hilarious scenes – like the whole  Shitkicker introduction, Jean-Claude Segal (How can I die when I'm a  registered lethal weapon?) or when Rambo medicine goes awry. And of  course, the ending - where a Mariachi dude sings the Saga of Feast  during the credits.

With “Feast”, you’ll either love or hate it. But what you gotta  understand is you’re not supposed to take it seriously. It is one of the  best low-budget action wicked horror comedies you’ll find out there,  not meant to make much sense. It’s pure unpretentious fun not trying to  be anything more than that, and we need more films like these. An  adequate finish to a great trilogy.
