Captain America II: Death too Soon

This sequel was filmed the same year as its predecessor, meaning they haven’t really had time to improve anything. Even the poster is basically copy/pasted. This time the Captain goes against an international terrorist Miguel who has stolen a rapid ageing virus that causes people and animals to age 39 days in a single hour and infected a whole town with it. Only he holds the antidote and demands a 2 billion $ ransom. Uncle Sam doesn’t negotiate with dirty terrorists so it’s up to the Captain to save the day, before all people drop dead of old age.

Reb Brown is the Captain again. I will admit his acting skills had improved a tiny bit, but it’s really a microscopic difference. A was however totally surprised when I saw the name of Sir Cristopher Lee as Miguel in the intro credits. It’s not a clone; it’s the original Sir Lee, only he wasn’t a Sir back then. Why he had to mess with this film, I have no idea but I guess it’s not one he looks back at in delight.

Anyway, “Captain America II” features the same shitty action, the same bad script, the same lame acting, the same “special effects” and the massive overabuse of Captain America’s superpower use sound effect. It’s because they couldn’t show you his powers, so they had to give you a hint when he used them. For example, you see the Captain squinting. What is he doing? Then the sound plays. Aha! He’s not squinting, he’s using his super sharp eagle eyesight to see what the enemies of America are up to!

Part 2 is equally bad as the first film, but some 10 minutes shorter (thank the gods!), and stars Christopher Lee. I’ll give a point for that. Phew, two done, only one "Captain America" to go!
