A Better Tomorrow

Chow Yun-Fat’s films are very fun to watch, but very boring to review.  Let’s face it, they’re almost all the same. So, Chow & John Woo =  awesomeness, and that’s what “A Better Tomorrow” (original title: "Ying  hung boon sik") is.

Since the review is so short, I'll include a  rant.

(Rant start)

The fucking subtitles. I don't know if  you've noticed, but there are a few versions of DVD subtitles. There are  those that most people, including myself, call "normal". Plain white  with a pretty ugly font that gets the job done. Then there are those  equally ugly, but yellow instead of white. I've even seen the "smart"  subs, which actually shift their position across the screen, depending  on who speaks (like in "Doomsday"). And then there are the ones which  don't include a full stop in a sentence. The question and exclamation  marks are always shown, but no full stop. There's a couple of films with  this kind of subs I've seen so far. And one of them is "A Better  Tomorrow". Not only do they not have the full stop, but they also suck  major ass and they come and go in a blink of an eye. I was so annoyed by  this I almost stopped watching.

Fucking subs.
