Hitman

This contains no spoilers, so feel free to read it.

Not that there's much to spoil in this movie. I LOVED IT! There were some little dangly bits that kind of bugged me, but not enough that it ruined the movie for me. It had a whole Batman Beyond-Kurare vibe going. If you've seen Batman Beyond, then you know what I'm talking about and you just figured out the plot. ;P

I still say the one dude is a little young looking to play Hitman but he pulled it off. I never played the games, so I'm not sure how well he pulled it off though. But how much talent is required to play a guy who doesn't talk much?

I say see this one in theaters just to make the explosions more fun.

I’ve only played the Hitman game once. I think it was the second one, and I got it for free in a 2 for 1 deal. Can’t say as I liked the game itself, but the story was awesome, so when I found out they were bringing it to the big screen, I was a bit on the excited side.
As with more and more films these days, critics all but panned this film. I don’t really understand why.
Timothy Olyphant would not have been my first choice to be Agent 47. For some reason I was thinking Vin Diesel, but that may be because of the baldness. Olyphant owns this role, which is really saying something when you consider that 47 isn’t the most charismatic, but rather enigmatic character to portray. Here Olyphant gets to show off his action chops, and despite previous misconceptions, he handles himself exceedingly well.
You always have to have eye candy in films like these. In Hitman, we get a stripper played by Olga Kurylenko. If you’ve ever seen pictures of Olga, then you can really see the level of hotness she possesses. Unfortunately, you don’t really get to see it here. There a couple pf flashes, but for the most part she dirtied up and dolled down here, which is ok. Beautiful actresses have to do that on occasion. As far as her acting goes…well, she was ok, but nothing to write home about. Since most of her scenes were with 47, who is a very stoic character, you’d think they’d have had her play up a more playful side, rather than just be some kind of attachment to him. At least that’s how I saw it.
It seems as if every film I watch these days has some FBI, CI, or other similar service agent obsessed with capturing their target to the point of jeopardizing any and everyone around them. That was pretty much the case here with Mike Whittier, played by Dougray Scott. No, he didn’t go to all kinds of extremes to capture 47, but he did think he knew every little thing about him, and assumed that he was the foremost authority and knew the best was to capture him.
I would have liked to have seen more action, but from what I remember of the game I played, it’s not exactly action packed. As far as I can tell, this is a faithful adaptation to the source material. Still, more action would have been nice.
Speaking of the action, the best scene for me had to happen on the train where all the hitmen have this showdown of sorts. They put away their guns and pull out swords and go into the beautiful fight scene. It was great!
Video game films don’t exactly have the track record of their comic book counterparts, but I think in time that will change. 10-15 years ago if you had said that some of the biggest films were based on comic books, 9 out of 10 people would laugh at you.
Hitman may not be the best picture, but it does deliver on everything it promises. A good story, action to back it up, and it stays true to its roots…something almost every film decides not to do these days. Yeah, there are people who will find thins film boring or whatever, but that’s ok. not every film is for everyone. Don’t judge it until you see it. I’ve seen it and I say its pretty good. Why not take the time and check it out.
