The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day - Written and directed by Troy Duffy, starring Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus, Billy Connolly, Julie Benz, and Clifton Collins, Jr. - Rated R Kurgan laughed a few times, but he never laughed in slow motion. First off, let me say that I am not a die hard Boondock Saints fan. I thought the first film was amusing and all, but I have never understood the obsessed following it gained. The first film was an attempt to be edgy and stylish, but I just thought it was cheap and stupid most of the time. That said, I actually enjoyed this sequel and I imagine if I liked it, then the die hards will love it. This second outing just seemed funnier and better put together. That doesn't mean this film is perfect or anything. I still found the shootouts to be slow motion bore fests and it doesn't seem like the filmmakers have learned to make proper cuts, since most scenes have an almost jarring transition. But I could slightly get past that on...

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day Starring: Shawn Patrick Flannery, Norman Reedus, Billy Connolly, Clifton Collin Jr., Julie Benz, and Peter Fonda Director: Troy Duffy Genre: Action, Crime,Thriller Rated: R Storied Director Troy Duffy brings back The Saints for the sequel to his cult classic. When a priest is murdered in a way that frames them, “the boys” return to Boston to bring justice upon the mob forces responsible. Boondock II picks up ten years after the first with the MacManus brothers (Sean Patrick Flannery and Norman Redus) living a quiet life on an Irish sheep farm. Back in Boston a priest is killed to bring the brothers out of hiding, unfortunately for those responsible this plan works and the brother return to Boston. All Saints Day employs the same tone as the first with a combination of comedic banter and over the top action; thankfully the production values on the sequel are vastly superior to that of its predecessor. Overall All Saints Day has...

boonedock saints 2: all saint’s day

i have to admit i kinda dozed off a couple of times.  not that the film was boring, it was just really late.  and it did kinda start out like a straight to dvd movie.  in fact, i’m kinda surprised it wasn’t straight to dvd.  i think because the boonedock saints is such a popular cult kinda thing that sold a gazillion dvd’s, they thought they’d give it a shot on the big screen. they shoulda just let it go to dvd. i was dozing so i very well might have missed a few things but i just didn’t think they story was particularly compelling.  i mean, what else should there be?  a priest is killed in boston and made to look like the saints did it.  so they, the saints, find out about it and roll up out of the irish back country and take a boat ride to america with the soul intention of kicking ass. and kick ass they do.  so i don’t know what i’m complaining about. they chick that plays dexter’s...

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (2009)

Directed By: Troy Duffy Starring: Sean Patrick Flanery, Nroman Reedus, Clifton Collins Jr., Julie Benz What It’s All About: The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day picks up eight years after the first movie where after killing a prominent mob boss in the Boston Crime Underworld, the McManus brothers and their father fled back to their home country of Ireland to seek solitude. A priest is found murdered in a Boston church with the calling card of the saints, and when the brothers hear of this they seek revenge. A rampage against the Yakavetta mob is raging on the streets of Boston as the saints do what they do best – kill bad guys. The Final Verdict: It may have been a long time in the making, but Troy Duffy has provided a worthy sequel to the original cult classic. While the movie essentially lives out the same story arch as it’s predecessor, in-house jokes from the first movie, witty dialogue and new characters make All Saints Day feel fresh. This...

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

Basic Premise: Conner and Murphy "The Saints" MacManus are back. After 8 years in hiding, they've been called back to Boston to find the killer of a priest. They meet old foes and new as well as old friends and new in their quest to mete out their form of justice. Review: The Saints are definitely back. Any fan of the first movie will definitely love this one, assuming you can find a theater that carries it. I don't know what the powers-that-be behind this movie were thinking giving this movie a limited release but they are only hurting themselves and their income. The same humor of the first movie is back and the MacManus brothers are just as crazy as ever. The great thing about this movie is that we get to see some of the family history. The greatest thing about this movie is the allusion to another possible sequel, maybe even more than one. I hope it happens because the MacManus brothers are far from finished. For those who are frustrated at the lack of theaters carrying this...

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

Well, that was one way to completely destroy one of the most beloved cult movies of all time. Let's kick this off with a quick review of the original cult phenomenon. First-time writer and director, Troy Duffy, somehow convinced someone to make his movie. It made like $10,000 dollars in the theaters and every critic hated it like it was the spawn of Hitler, Mussolini and Spiderman 3. The movie picked up an incredible cult following when it was released on DVD and is now a personal favorite in my collection. Brilliant, funny writing, an overused plot that was still original, good acting by little known actors (aside from Willem Dafoe and Billy Connolly) and intense slow-motion action sequences. You should all see it right now. Since "The Boondock Saints" made like 27 million off of DVD sales, and has a humongous following, everyone kind of expected Troy Duffy to come back with a second one. It took ten years, but he did it. "All Saints Day" has raped one of my favorite movies...

Go see this movie now!

Just got back from seeing Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day and I just wanted to say that it was awesome. It was a perfect way to come back after all these years. Almost every scene had me in tear from laughing so much. The characters are wonderful and the added characters of Special Agent Eunice Bloom (Julie Benz) and Romeo (Clifton Collins Jr.)really just enhance the movie. This movie was the perfect addition to the first because it really ties how all the characters fit and gives some much needed back story. I really think this movie needs to be shown in all the theaters across the country so all the fans can see it and make the hit it should have been the first time around.
