Well at least Hell is modern! Genre: Action Drama Fantasy Horror Thriller (USA, Germany) Starring: Keanu Reeves (Thumbsucker; Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure), Rachel Weisz (The Fountain; The Constant Gardener ) Directed By: Francis Lawrence Overview: The champion exorcist and demon hunter John Constantine, faced with the signs of the coming of Armageddon, does what he can to stay alive and redeem himself in the eyes of God. Performance: Yeah, yeah, pretty boy Keanu Reeves in another pretty boy role. I think he's gaining potential now though. He might actually not be a flash in the pan. Even though from time to time the direction and acting was fromage, all the players were consistently good. Keanu also gets roles in films that are real interesting. The Matrix, Devil's Advocate (HIGHLY recommended), A Scanner Darkly ...He knows how to pick em, and he's getting better. Rating: 7 Cinematography: It's really creepy when you notice this Hollywood fare doing all it can...

While I wouldn’t recommend this movie for everyone, nor consider it doctrinally kosher (like the role of “Gabriel” in this movie – ouch!), it generally does have a positive slant in the end, and any movie in which the Devil is licked gives me a little bit of personal satisfaction…

BACK COVER SYNOPSIS: As demon hunter John Constantine, The Matrix's Keanu Reeves fights a new otherworld foe in this eye-opening supernatural thriller based on characters from the DC Comics/Vertigo Hellblazer Graphic Novels and set in a City of the Angels where spirit-world bounds have broken... and all hell is breaking loose. Armed with a shotgun crafted from a crucifix and assisted by an intrepid cop (Rachel Weisz), he's a spiritual warrior gone to apocalyptic war. Be glad he's on your side. FILM REVIEW: "Constantine" is a thoroughly enjoyable film. Surprisingly, it's has quite a subdued and quiet tone which one doesn't often find in a film adaptation of a comic book/graphic novel. I haven't read the original source material but from what I've heard Keanu Reeves looks and sounds nothing like the John Constantine fans have come to love from the comics and for this reason there has been a backlash to the film in the sense that there is a perception that...
(Read More...)Here is another good movie, a horror-fantasy film featuring Keanu Reeves and Rachel Weisz. It’s not a briliant film, it does not have a smart plot but it’s a film packed with computer graphics, special effects and creatures from Hell! The cast is ok but nothing off the hook. Keanu Reeves is a supernatural detective who can travel to Hell and back. In his abilities too is to send demons back to Hell. Rachel Weisz is someone who her sister commits suicide but it’s no ordinary suicide and so she and Reeves storm to find out what’s going on and what’s the relationship of her sister’s suicide to what happening in the world. The plot is ok, nothing special and very easy to understand and grasp things in this film. What makes it a fun movie is the graphics and the special effects in it. You can really see details in the demos and creatures from Hell and feel the hot wind of Hell when Constantine visits there, so as far as the special effects go in this film, they are top...
