“Ink” is an independent surreal fantasy horror film written and directed by Jamin Winans. It’s the kind of film I think you either love or hate. There’s no graphic violence and it’s completely story driven with a spooky atmosphere. It progresses very, very slowly and I believe many, especially the modern day average viewers who have no attention spans, will find it boring and dull. If you're in the remaining 1%, read on. Emma, a 10-something year old girl is woken from her sleep by the mysterious Ink who wants to take her to the Assembly for his initiation into the Incubi ranks. A group of Storytellers come to her aid, but Ink emerges victorious. However, due to his key to the Assembly portal being destroyed in the fight, he has to make big detour which just might give a chance to the Storytellers and a Pathfinder to save Emma before it's too late. Written and directed by Jamin Winans, Ink is a film I bumped into by chance while cruising the Netflix highway one night. I checked out some of the user reviews real quick to get an idea what the average chuckle head on the interwebs thought of it and I was surprised by how many people were down for it. I was still a little weary until I read a review or two that kind of reassured me and put my interest in position to want to see this film, which I did. Ink is a surreal fantasy film that shows who exactly is behind our dreams, and our nightmares. There's the good - the ones behind our dreams, they are called the Storytellers and their rivals are the bad - the ones behind our nightmares, they are the Incubi. Then there is the ugly - his name is Ink and he is a damaged man who has gone down a path that led him to want to become one of the Incubi. To do so, Ink must find a sacrifice that will satisfy the Incubi so they will allow Ink into their fold. Ink's sacrifice...
