Snow Angels, 2007 Directed by David Gordon Green I couldn’t sleep last night, so I started watching Snow Angels at 2:30 in the morning, I figured I’d watch it for a little while, then probably head to sleep. By 3:30, I was so into the movie, I stayed up to finish it. I was dead tired this morning at work, but do I regret it? Nope. David Gordon Green has been a very capable director ever since his debut film George Washington, a haunting dreamy film about the lives of children in the South. With Snow Angels , he proves just how good a director he is. The plot of Snow Angels is hard to describe without giving much away, so I’ll keep it simple. This is one of the darkest, most powerful movies I have seen and it twisted my guts inside out. Though it is also one of the most beautiful and hypnotic movies I have seen and it does have a subplot that is beautiful and touching. Sam Rockwell proves that he belongs with the best of them with an amazing performance. Rockwell has been great in a lot of small roles and he is flawless here reminding me of a young Deniro. Kate Beckinsale was a revelation to me here giving a soul baring performance proving she can act.
